LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Deliver outstanding business outcomes |
 |

 |
About the Program
The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is an innovative, team-based program built around a strategic business project that participants deliver to their own organisations.
The LDP is in high demand amongst Consortium members as it is designed in collaboration with four member organisations who work together to maximise inter-organisational learning opportunities that will build their own business bottom line.
The program is a powerful development opportunity for high-potential executives who will benefit from a broader perspective on strategic issues that affect overall performance of the entire business.
This program exposes participants to the latest thinking and practice in leadership. It also helps participants critically review and develop their own practice as leaders.
Target Group
Typical participants in the LDP include high potential executives, possibly in functional roles, reporting to top levels of the organisation, who have been identified as future top talent.
The titles of typical participants in previous LDPs include: National Project/Program Manager, Group Manager and Managers responsible for significant Operations, Infrastructure or Commercial performance.

Organisational Project
Participants work in
organisationally-based teams on a strategic project
developed in collaboration with their Project Sponsors–
see detail below.

process engages four member organisations in an integrated
approach to problemsolving that results in outstanding
cross-fertilisation and learning opportunities for the
participating organisations and their high potential
people.
Program activities
The Leadership Development Program uses action learning principles to develop participants’ awareness of their own leadership style and the way they approach leading others.
The program involves four member organisations agreeing to work together. Each member provides 5 -7 high-potential executives who work in a team on an agreed project that has strategic and business importance for their organisation.
Participants commence work with an internal Project Sponsor to scope a relevant project. This is then taken to the one-week residential workshop where the proposal is developed into a workable business opportunity and tested by both the team itself, and their peers in the larger group.
On completion of the program (10 weeks in total), the teams present their project to the Board/Executive of their organisation.
Other elements of the program include a leadership diagnostic, presentations from role model leaders, theory sessions and practical exercises to develop each participant’s understanding of their own leadership style, and how they can improve their business performance.
Aims
and benefits
This program impacts at all levels of the leadership
relationship hierarchy:
 |
 |
individual – knowledge of personal capabilities
and improvement strategies; |
 |
 |
group – inter and intra-organisational
working skills and team development strengths; |
 |
 |
organisation – capacity to assist and influence
the strategic business performance of the enterprise
in tangible ways. |
With design input from
the participants’ own organisations, the LDP is tailored
to build personal skills in the full set of leadership
capabilities necessary for the success of the business.
Return
on Investment
For the organisation,
the ROI includes:
 |
 |
a cohort of leaders who are able to develop strong,
committed teams with a high level of affiliation
to the enterprise’s business goals; |
 |
 |
improved capacity to diagnose, analyse and act on critical change processes that affect business performance; tangible, practical strengths in cross-organisational strategic problem-solving; |
 |
 |
executives with a sense of business and strategic
realities broadened by extensive work with other
Consortium members. |
What participants say about
the LAP
 |
 |
“Completely different perspective on leadership
compared to my usual approach – an excellent experience,
enormously valuable for my personal development…Fantastic!” |
 |
 |
“There was so much relevance to issues that I
am dealing with right now. So I have a great opportunity
to apply what I have learnt immediately.” |
 |
 |
“Excellent opportunity to look at different leadership
approaches in practice. I could reflect on, and
test, the range of potential styles I can use in
my job.” |
| |
 |
“This is a ‘self-discover’ course… It will not
spoon feed you, which I think a number of people
– including, at first, myself – thought it would.” |
